Jayawada city is under water for the third day. Even though the intensity of the flood subsided, the colonies remained under water. Residents are suffering from lack of electricity and fresh water. Relief and rehabilitation programs for them are going on vigorously. Chief Minister Chandrababu, ministers and officials supervised the relief efforts on Tuesday. Although the government, NGOs and donors are generous, they are not reaching the last of the victims. On Tuesday, many families evacuated their homes and moved to resettlement centers. Around 75 thousand people have taken shelter in different centers. In the evening, many people vacated and went to their relatives’ houses. Everywhere you look, you can see people scrambling for food. There was a stampede here and there. The flood level of Budameru, which was up to eight feet on Saturday, reduced to three feet on Tuesday night. It is expected that water will be removed in the colonies in the next two days.

Everyone is in relief efforts..

CM Chandrababu NTR reviewed with officials at District Collectorate and toured many colonies. Singhnagar and Chittanagar areas were inspected in a helicopter. He warned that action would be taken if the officials were negligent. 32 IASs have been appointed as in-charges in 179 secretariats. On the orders of the CM, the ministers and public representatives visited the colonies and supervised the relief efforts. Steps were taken to provide food and drinking water. Requests for help are coming in from many areas. Lakhs of packets of food and fresh water were supplied by six helicopters and 30 drones. In colonies where the water level is low, essential needs are provided by tractors. Medical camps are being organized and patients are being treated.

While 600 cusecs of flood is coming from the top of Budameru, 500 cusecs is being released to the diversion canal and 100 cusecs to the drain. Even on Tuesday, although the flow level has subsided, several villages in the lower reaches have been inundated. The flood in the city is gradually flowing into the drain. Due to this, the downstream areas of Gudavalli, Kesarapalli, Gannavaram and Bapulapadu were flooded. Maduranagar and Gudavalli were flooded and nearby colonies and Jakkulaneckalam villages were submerged. Water entered the crop fields. Engineers say that the flood flow at Kolleru is slow and that is why the water is receding in the upper areas.

Fear is fear in Diviseema

Although the flood has receded in the Krishna river, it is still coming heavily. The people of Diviseema are in fear after the flood of about 7 lakh cusecs on Tuesday. Relief operations are going on in Krishna district as well. People from Lanka villages were moved to resettlement centers. The crop fields were flooded and there was heavy crop loss.

Electricity, drinking water or hell

The threat of diseases and the plague of mosquitoes

Today, Amaravati: No electricity for three days. There is no fresh water. Food is limited. Sleepy. Mosquitoes fly. Fear of infections. Even if the flood recedes, it is not known whether the mudflats will ever be removed. In these miserable conditions, thousands of people from Singhnagar area locked their houses and are going to rehabilitation centers and relatives’ houses. On Tuesday, the Singhnagar flyover was jammed with residents. Pilla Zella.. grabbed a bag and ran towards Satyanarayanapuram. From there, they reached Eluru road and proceeded to their relatives’ houses like a rally. Mainly in Vambe Colony, JNNURM Colony, Singhnagar, Pipelaroddu, Kandriga and Jakkampudi Colonies, hundreds of houses are empty. From Chanumolu overpass towards Chittanagar, Milk Factory, Vidyadharapuram and Gollapudi, people also sought for resettlement. The government has increased the distribution of food parcels in those areas. About 2.75 lakh people were affected by the flood, but only about 2 thousand people remained in the rehabilitation centers on Tuesday night, officials said. Though initially thousands of people came to the camps, they are said to be going to their relatives’ homes in the rural areas as the transport facility is gradually becoming available. Most of the people are thinking that they will come back once the flood recedes, the mud clears and the conditions improve.

After waiting for three days.. depressed

In Vijayawada, Budameru’s influence is more on the central constituency. Jakkampudi Colony, Vambe Colony and Rajarajeshwaripet areas are mostly inhabited by the poor and middle class. Hundreds of people are living in multi-storied JNNURM built by the government. People on the lower floors reached the upper floors as water reached the first floor here on Sunday. It was hoped that the flood would subside within a day. The situation has not changed for three days, there is no electricity and fresh water, so they are leaving the place. Some wealthy people are staying in safe areas by booking hotel rooms. As buses have started on some routes, they are going to relatives’ houses in the villages. Also, the people of Vijayawada rural mandal are fetching fresh water from far away. Bores are not working. Electricity supply has been stopped in all flood affected areas. It will be restored after the flood recedes.
