From the oceans to the highest mountains, this waste is filling up. Finally, even human bodies are unable to escape from these. Two-thirds of this waste comes from the southern hemisphere, the study said. About 4 km with this waste generated annually. Researchers claim that New York City’s Central Park could be filled to the height of the 380-meter-tall Empire State Building. They studied locally produced plastic waste from 50,000 cities and towns around the world for the journal ‘Nature’ published on Wednesday. Researchers who have studied plastic going into the open air haven’t taken into account plastic that ends up in landfills that aren’t burned properly. Lagos in Nigeria has been identified as the city that produces the most plastic waste in the world. Delhi and Karachi are also included in this list.
