Renukaswamy Murder Case:’Watertight’ Chargesheet Filed Against Darshan,Other Accused:B Dayananda CoP

ore trouble for Film actor Darshan and his associates as the 3991 page charge-sheet what city police Commissioner,B.Dayananada termed it was“water tight “ accusing Pavithra,Darshan and 15 others under murder, conspiracy,planning,kidnap,torture and destruction of evidence.

The charge sheet also mentioned how the accused initially planned to misguide the police by getting four of his associates to surrender to police in connection with the murder of his fan Renukaswamy.

However a meticulous investigations and gathering the evidence in the form of circumstantial,technical and eye witness account exposed the role of each accused in the crime,a senior officer,said.

The CCTV footage and the footage recovered from one of the accused mobile phone where Renukaswamy was tortured brutally and killed him mercilessly even though he was pleading mercy and let him go .

Darshan and Pavithra who had visited the scene involved in assault and torture of the victim,which has been corroborated by the investigating officer in the form of CCTV footage and the DNA samples from their clothes and footwear they were wearing at the time of the crime.

The accused had even planned to dispose the body in a storm water drain and later surrendered before the police when the body was recovered .

The police have also recorded the statement of Darshan Friends who were with him minutes before he went to meet the victim at the shed.

Darshan was partying with his friends and the police identified them and summoned to record their statement .

The police also said that one of the accused turned approver and gave statement before the magistrate which would make the case more stronger .

The 3,991-page chargesheet,along with forensic reports, was submitted before the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) .

A total of 231 witnesses,including three eyewitnesses, have been recorded.

Renukaswamy’s DNA found on the clothes of some suspects,including Pavithra,remained a key piece of evidence,police sources said.

Renukaswamy’s body was found disposed of near a stormwater drain in Sumanahalli on June 9.In the subsequent days,police arrested Darshan,Pavithra and the others.

Further investigation revealed that Renukaswamy was tortured to death and the motive was the deceased sending lewd messages to Pavithra, as per the police.

S Girish,Deputy Commissioner of Police (West),oversaw the investigation led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Chandan Kumar and his team.

Mr.Dayananda,said that investigation was done in all the angles while a few reports on electronic devices sent for analysis were awaited from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad,which will be submitted to the court in due course.

“All reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bengaluru were received,”the commissioner said.

“Some electronic devices were sent to CFSL a complete report is yet to be received.

Responding to whether the case would be recommended to a fast-track court,the commissioner said a decision would be taken after seeking opinions from legal experts.“Some of the witnesses include Tahsildars,doctors,Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials and engineers,”he added.
