27-year-old woman,Anusha,succumbed to severe burn injuries in Victoria Hospital on 7th September after a tragic incident the previous evening in which she sustained 50% burns.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on 6th September and is being investigated as a suspected dowry death.
Senior officer said,Anusha,who was newly married,had been harbouring suspicions about her husband,Harish Venkatesh,33,accusing him of having an extramarital affair.
This suspicion allegedly led to repeated threats of self-harm by the victim.Harish,a software engineer earning Rs.80,000 a month,had not been going to work for the past two months,which reportedly worsened tensions between the couple.
Following the incident,Anusha was rushed to Victoria Hospital, where she battled severe burn injuries but unfortunately succumbed to her wounds the next day.
Authorities have now registered a case of dowry death, and further investigations are ongoing.
