: Sitaram Yechury (72), a prominent politician, leftist militant and general secretary of CPM passed away. He was treated at Delhi AIIMS for a few weeks due to a lung infection and breathed his last as his health worsened. Yechury, recognized as an economist, social worker and columnist, has been a member of the party’s politburo since 1992. He continued as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2005 to 2017.
