Former minister Galla Arunakumari to be given to the trust

Galla Aruna’s autobiographical book

Eenadu Digital, Tirupati: Her mother died when she was young and she studied society under her father’s upbringing. She is famous as a former minister and co-founder of Amararaja Institutions, but she is a lifelong social worker. As Rajagopalanaidu’s daughter and Ramachandra Naidu’s wife, Jayadeva was not only the mother of Ramadevi but also incarnated as a writer and wrote her own life. She is Galla Arunakumari from Chittoor district. Her recently launched autobiography has sold more than 5,000 copies of the first edition. The money received will be donated to the trust for the education of poor students. On this occasion, she spoke to ‘Eenadu’.

That is why we fixed the price at Rs.1,000

Actually, the idea was to give this book for free. But the authors who helped me in writing my autobiography, Namini Subrahmanyam Naidu and Sakam Nagaraja, explained the circumstances of giving freely. Even then, I thought that the money from the sale of copies of this book, which has a thousand pages, should be used for service programs. It was on that occasion that the price of the book was fixed at Rs.1,000. More than 5,000 books were sold in the first printing. I am donating Rs. 50 lakhs to the Srikrishna Devaraya Educational Trust on October 2. During my school days, there was a student in my village who studied well. My father used to give him some pocket money as his education was difficult due to poverty. After noticing that, I used to save some money every month with the help of my friends and give it towards the expenses of the boy’s books. After the marriage, when he came to know about this, he thought of doing something for such people and founded a charity. Since then we have been providing subsidies to the poor students who are studying. My donation will also be useful for them in this way.

Galla Arunakumari presenting her autobiography to Chief Minister Chandrababu Babu

Challenged with the CM..

Recently she presented the book to AP CM Chandrababu and Minister Achchennaidu. He took money from both of them. After giving Rs.1000 I will read this book. “If there is no content, I should return my Rs. 1000,” said the CM jokingly. Immediately, ‘If you don’t like the content, I will give you Rs. two thousand, not Rs. one thousand,’ I challenged myself with a smile.

Showing cellphones and offering rice..

In fact, there are no people who read books like before. We have come from the days of telling stories to children and feeding them gorumuddas to the days of showing them videos on cell phones and giving them rice. Handwriting is reduced. My grandson was amazed when he saw me write 3,000 pages by hand. It is a fact that in today’s society, writers are facing difficulties as books are not selling as expected. Galla Arunakumari explained that no matter how much technology has advanced, there is satisfaction in holding a book of your choice and reading it.
