A 52-year-old milk vendor was stabbed to death by his neighbour over a trivial row at a function during a Pitru Paksha ceremony at the brother’s house in the neighbourhood where both accused and the deceased had attended in Sonnenahalli under Jnanabharathi police station limits on Sunday.
Pitru Paksha is observed to pay homage to the ancestors,especially through food offerings.
The deceased has been identified as Murthy,a resident of Sonnenahalli was into cow rearing and milk vending business .
The Police have arrested Kirthi Manjunath,27,who is into finance business and Murthy’s neighbour.
According to the police,Murthy during the program stepped on Kirthi’s feet accidentally which led to heated argument turned into ugly fight which ended in murder.
Later Murthy and his relatives were drinking at his brother’s house,along with neighbours including Kirthi.
Police found that at one point,Murthy stepped on Keerthi’s feet,which triggered an argument,Keerthi then used a knife to stab Murthy,and fled the scene.
The severely injured Murthy was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed later.Based on the complaint,the Jnanabharathi police track down Kirthi and arrested him.
