We are fortunate to live in Modi’s era of Governance – Bommai
Bengaluru:Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life is a fusion of Eastern and Western philosophy and they are fortunate to be living in the era of Modi’s governance, said former CM and MP Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking at the launch and discussion event of the book Power Within, written by R.Balasubramanyam,a member of the Central Human Resource Capacity Building Commission here on Tuesday,he said that anyone who meets Prime Minister Modi should hold a special regard for him in their heart.Charisma is not a cause,it’s a consequence. When you meet Modi, he becomes a part of your life”.
The former CM said Balasubramanyam has not written about Modi as a Prime Minister, but as a person. He also mentioned that individuals make decisions twice: once when they decide to do something, and again when they actually do it.
Sharing an anecdote from when Modi introduced the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”scheme, the former CM said Modi once visited a cultural event in a village as Chief Minister, where a twelve-year-old girl questioned her mother, asking,
“You raised me for months, and now you want to kill me? I will take care of you and my siblings just like my father; please don’t kill me.”
This deeply moved Modi, and the video of the event was widely promoted across the state. It led to a significant reduction in female infanticide in Gujarat. Modi has the ability to listen to everything.
Saying that the PM possesses humanitarian qualities, Bommai recounting an event where he struggled to keep up with Modi’s pace. Modi noticed this and slowed down to match Bommai’s speed. For a Prime Minister to have such sensitivity is incredible.”
Modi once said that God had sent him to serve the country, which the opposition ridiculed. However, Modi understands the purpose of his life. Though he is often seen as serious, those who know him closely find him humorous.
Modi’s journey from childhood was filled with challenges. Initially, he joined the RSS with the intention of serving the country, then later considered turning towards spirituality.
It was the RSS that guided him towards his life’s purpose. When the purpose of an individual and an organization aligns, it leads to noble achievements,he added.
He said Modi is knowledgeable about everything, from the life of a roadside vendor to the intricacies of governance.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was an expert in economics and worked well with the IMF, but he lacked understanding of rural India, tribal communities, and regional cultures.
Modi,on the other hand, has read and understood these areas. Once, while discussing democracy, Modi remarked that India’s Anubhava Mantapa existed before the Magna Carta, showing his depth of knowledge.
Bommai recounted how when he joined the BJP, Modi tied a shawl around him with two knots, saying, “One knot is for BJP and the other is for Modi; these knots can never be undone. This had a lasting impact on him.
Bommai also reminisced about an incident when Modi visited Bengaluru as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.Several ministers had already gone to the airport to receive him.
Though others were seated with Modi in the car, he insisted that Bommai, who was officially appointed to receive him, accompany him.
Modi even questioned the ministers about their work at the hotel, asking, “If you’re sitting here, who’s working in Vidhana Soudha?”
When Modi became Prime Minister, Bommai was late in wishing him. While state leaders had already met him, Bommai feared he wouldn’t get a chance. However, Modi granted him a meeting at 11 PM and spent half an hour discussing new ideas for the country.
Bommai also recalled a parliamentary debate where Supriya Sule stated that none of them would be around to see a developed India. Bommai responded by saying that was thinking of leaving behind a developed India for the next generation.
Modi desires to provide education, safety, and a healthy life for our children, which is why he is implementing plans for a developed India,Bommai explained.Supriya Sule later agreed with him.
The event was attended by the book’s author, R. Balasubramanyam, BJP General Secretary P. Rajeev, Dattatreya, and Prashanth G.S.
