Bengaluru Rain wreak havoc:Orange Alert Issued,water logging,School bus submerged,Kids rescued with JCB & tractors,Schools Closed Tomorrow; WFH Advised For Tech Firms

he three days cyclonic effect with heavy spell of rains caused havoc on the day one with traffic movement came to a standstill or moved at snail’s pace across major roads in Bengaluru as rains lashed the city nonstop since wee hours of the morning on Tuesday (October 15, 2024), leading to waterlogging and disruption of public life forcing the district administration to declared one day holiday for schools and kindergartens .

Heavy rain in Bengaluru brought the city to a standstill, with school buses stuck for hours on Balagere Road, around 2 km from the tech hub Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said they have declared a holiday for schools and anganwadis on Wednesday (October 16). However, colleges will remain open. October 17 is a public holiday in observance of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti.The tech companies have also been advised to allow their employees to work from home.

Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) issued advisories for several areas that witnessed traffic snarls,including Mahadevapura,Marathahalli,Seshadripuram,Sanjay Nagar,Hunasemaranahalli,Hebbal flyover and Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Bannerghatta Road as the roads got inundated due to rain.

A roadside tree fell on the parked car due to rain,car damaged residents complained to bbmp to remove the tree which was dangerously tilted but in vain.

Many roads underpasses and some layouts inundated forcing the people to remain indoors.While majority of them availed work from home options many who did not have facilities and forced to attend offices were stranded in the middle of the road with slow moving traffic and blaming the weather and policemen .

Autorickshaw and cab services and online groceries increased their fares and traffic police advised the people travelling to airport to pre poned their trip well in advance as the airport road was jammed for sometime .

Many trees uprooted and several vehicles parked on roadside damaged.Deputy chief minister,DK Shivakumar visited the BBMP control room to take stock of the situation.

Motorists have been struggling to navigate the slippery roads,while office-goers are facing delays.The rain has impacted several parts of the city, leading to traffic snarls in various areas during the morning rush hour.

As the city continues to experience rainfall,residents are bracing for a wet and challenging day ahead.
