uestions BJP MPs,HD Kumaraswamy for Silence on Central Government’s Discrimination
“I laid the foundation for the 5th stage of the Cauvery drinking water project, and today,I am inaugurating it. This is proof that we deliver on our promises,”said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The CM was speaking after launching the 5th stage of the project,which aims to supply drinking water to 110 villages within the BBMP (Bengaluru city) limits.
He mentioned that the project had been delayed during the tenure of previous governments,including under HD. Kumaraswamy, due to a lack of funds and interest.After we returned to power,we completed the project and provided water to 110 villages,”he said.
6th Stage is Already in Progress
Siddaramaiah announced that the 6th stage of the project has also been initiated to meet the city’s needs further.“We do what we say.We don’t lie to come to power.We deliver on promises without deceit,”he emphasized.
Why is Kumaraswamy Silent on Mekedatu Approval?
Siddaramaiah criticized the central government for its unfair treatment of Karnataka.The central government is being partial. In tax distribution, more funds are given to states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh,while Karnataka is treated unfairly.”
He expressed frustration over the central government’s delay in approving the Mekedatu and Mahadayi projects. “Why is H.D. Kumaraswamy not pushing for approval? Why are BJP MPs from Karnataka not speaking up for the state?” the CM asked.
Tax Contribution vs. Return
Siddaramaiah noted that Karnataka contributes over Rs.4 lakh crore in taxes to the central government every year but receives only Rs.60,000 crore in return.For every Es 100 we give, only 15 paise comes back. Isn’t this unfair? Why aren’t BJP MPs questioning this?” he asked.
Infrastructure Challenges and Solutions
The CM assured that his government is committed to addressing Bengaluru’s rapid growth by providing adequate infrastructure and facilities.“We will overcome the challenges and successfully meet the city’s needs,” he promised.
He further mentioned that the 6th stage of the Cauvery project would add 500 million liters per day (MLD) of drinking water for Bengaluru residents.We have announced this, and we will deliver,”he said confidently.
The inauguration event was chaired by MLA Narendraswamy.Ministers including District-in-Charge Minister S. Chaluvarayaswamy, Energy Minister K.J. George, S.T. Somashekar and Byrathi Basavaraj were present, along with several other MLAs and MLCs.
The project,which cost Rs.4,336 crore,was implemented in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
To mark the occasion,the CM and Deputy CM planted a sapling on the project premises.
