New Delhi:Korean Cultural Centre India,in collaboration with LG Electronics India,will host the semi-final of the All-India K-Pop Contest 2024 on October 19th at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Auditorium in New Delhi,which has a seating capacity of 2,000.
Now in its 14th year,the All-India K-Pop Contest is a six-month-long project,which had 10,600 participants in the first round of the online auditions.
After the second round of regional preliminaries held in 11 major Indian cities, including Bengaluru,Chennai and Mumbai,27 teams advanced to the semifinals.
The popular Korean idol group ‘NTX’ will perform and serve as judges in the semifinals.NTX debuted in 2021 and has gained global popularity in countries such as South Korea, the U.S., and Japan.
They made their presence known by appearing on MBC’s ‘Extreme Debut: Wild Idol’ and JTBC’s ‘Peak Time’.
Ha Minwoo,a member of ‘ZE:A’ who debuted in 2010, will also be a special guest, adding extra excitement to the event.
For the K-pop fans there is also a ‘Fan Meet and Greet’ event scheduled with NTX at 4:50 pm on October 18 and at 1 pm on October 19.
The judging criteria for the semifinals will include pitch, rhythm,expressiveness, pronunciation,and stage presence (for vocals),as well as accuracy,choreography, technique, and stage presence (for dance).
The top 5 vocal and dance teams from the semi-final will advance to the finals, which will be held on Saturday, November 23rd,at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.

K-Pop Dance Academy With Choreographer Jay Kim
Leveraging the growing influence of K-pop, Korean Cultural Centre India, will host a K-Pop Dance Academy from October 15-19, 2024.
This initiative aims to expand the Hallyu community in India and cater to local dancers interested in professional choreography.
The academy is designed to provide K-pop dance and choreography training to K-pop enthusiasts and professional dancers living in India,offering sustainable dance skills while building and developing a dance community.
It presents a unique opportunity for local Hallyu fans who have never had a chance to learn choreography and dance directly from a Korean K-pop choreographer.
Indian Hallyu fans can also connect with peers who share similar interests through the K-Pop Academy.
The program consists of three days of choreography classes at Start Studio and two days of pop-up classes at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
It will cover various dance styles to help participants discover their preferred style,understand different choreography approaches,and develop their unique dance style.
The academy’s lead choreographer,Jay Kim,has worked with One Million Dance Studio,Singapore Millennium Dance,and LOEN Entertainment.He has collaborated with artists such as Jay Park, EXO’s Luhan, The Boyz, and Mommy Song.
He is widely experienced and has toured 111 cities across 54 countries (including the UK, Japan, Switzerland, Russia,Australia, the Philippines, and Canada) for dance workshops and as a judge.
