I have personally requested that my son not contest”.
Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai said a strategy is being formulated to win in three constituencies: Shiggaon,Sandur, and Channapatna.
Speaking to the media in Delhi on Saturday,he said that he had come to Delhi at the invitation of the party’s national president, J.P. Nadda..
After conducting a parliamentary board meeting for Maharashtra and Jharkhand, Nadda will give them time to discuss the Shiggaon by-election.
The candidate for Shiggaon will be chosen based on the potential to win, and everything will be discussed in tomorrow’s meeting.
They will strategize to ensure a BJP candidate wins in Shiggaon and Sandur, while an NDA candidate wins in Channapatna. For this reason,Nadda has called for the discussions.
Bommai said after the Congress government came to power in the state, farmers have faced significant difficulties. Last year, during the drought, the state government did not provide any form of assistance.
This year, floods have occurred, and the government has not responded adequately. No developmental activities are taking place.Even legislators from the ruling party are speaking out against the government.
The financial situation is dire, and many officials are showing helplessness. It is against this backdrop that the by-elections are being held. As a national party, they are taking this very seriously.
The BJP leaders are working on a strategy to ensure that the party candidates win in Shiggaon and Sandur, and the NDA candidate wins in Channapatna.I will discuss all these matters with the national president,”he added.
About local leaders in Shiggaon urging that a ticket be given to Bharat Bommai, his son,Bommai said he was not aware of any discussions between the local leaders and the people. However, since he have worked well in the constituency for so many years, they might have mentioned his son’s name.
But for personal reasons, he has requested that his son not be give the ticket. All these matters will be discussed with Nadda.
