In a joint operation with the help of city based NGOs,the Women Protection Wing of the Central Crime Branch in the last six months rescued 12 minor girls who were forced into prostitution .
Based on a specific inputs,the CCB officials carried out series of raids in different parts of the city since May this year and rescued the victims aged between 14 to 17 years who are from different parts of the country including from Tripura,West Bengal,Punjab,Maharastra, Karnataka and also three girls from Bangladesh,city police commissioner,B.Dayananda,said .
The police have also arrested 26 people who are running the racket along with three customers charging them under various section of prevention of immoral traffic act and also human trafficking.
The victims are sent to different state run centres for counselling and rehabilitation.The accused through their contacts lured the victims offering decent jobs and brought to the city to forced them into flesh trade .
Many of the girls are suspected to be brought to the city with the consent of their parents,which is being probed.
Similarly three victims from Bangladesh had brought to the city through the agent who helped the victims to cross porous borders.The police are investigating to ascertain more on the network .
The rescued girls will be handed over to their parents while the victims from Bangladesh will be deported after the due procedure .
