Haveri (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai said that in the Shiggaon constituency, regardless of whom Congress fields as its candidate, Congress remains their direct opponent.
Speaking to the media in Shiggaon on Friday,Bommai expressed confidence that in this by-election,his son and BJP candidate,Bharat Bommai would receive greater support than he did.I am confident that Bharat will win with a significant margin.
This time,we will receive maximum public support.I am not predicting whether Bharat will get more votes than I did,but I firmly believe he will win with a big margin.”
The former CM said that the BJP would win the by-elections in Shiggaon and Sandur, and the NDA would also claim victory in Channapatna.
When asked about discontent within the constituency, Bommai said there is no discontent in the constituency. During his election,there were minor issues,but now,with Bharat Bommai contesting, there are no differences.
Regarding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s remark that the BJP would not win even with Union Minister Kumara Swamy contesting against Congress candidate C.P. Yogeshwar in Channapatna,Bommai,said they (Congress) couldn’t find the right candidate within their party, and that should tell you everything,hinting at the internal challenges within Congress.
