Haveri (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has accused the State Congress Government of deceiving the people by falsely claiming that it released Rs.100 crores to Shiggaon and challenged the government to show records of this 100-crore release.

Speaking at an election campaign for BJP candidate Bharat Bommai in Hotanahalli and Chandapur villages of Shiggaon taluk,Bommai alleged that the State Congress Government is oppressing the people. He claimed that even minor issues lead to police cases, causing people to repeatedly visit police stations.

“The PSIs are becoming arrogant and the government is oppressing the people. They all must stand against this oppressive government.I will always stand with you and ensure no harm comes to you”.

Bommai said that there had been no riots in Shiggaon constituency, emphasizing that issues were always resolved internally through dialogue.

“Now, every matter is taken to the police station, causing financial loss for both parties. The people must elect Bharat Bommai, the BJP candidate,to prevent goondaism and police-station politics in this constituency,” he stated.

Development Must Continue

Reflecting on his tenure, the former CM said, over the last fifteen years,he has transformed Shiggaon, which was once a backward taluk, into a prosperous one.

Development must continue;otherwise, they will regress. For development to continue, the voters must support the party that works for it. If he did any development, its credit belongs to the people. When he was the Chief Minister, he ensured your votes were not compromised.

Slamming the current government for halting the Vidyanidhi Scheme, which was introduced for the education of farmers’ children during his tenure, the MP expressed concern over the government’s failure to assist farmers affected by drought and heavy rains.

When disaster strikes, the government must come forward. But this government isn’t doing so.A government that doesn’t support people in distress is as good as dead.

He recounted how, during his tenure as CM,he provided double the relief amount during floods, offering Rs 5 lakhs for completely collapsed houses, while the current government promises only Rs 94,000 and hasn’t even delivered that.

“My close association with you has made me aware of your hardships. The state and the country need leaders with empathy. The central government’s Kisan Samman scheme has been continuously running for the last seven to eight years,” he said.

He said he won’t boast about his achievements; they experience and speak about them. After becoming an MP, he was worried about losing this constituency but the party leaders gave Bharat Bommai an opportunity.

Bharat is their candidate and must carry forward the development agenda.Whether I am an MLA or not,I will always be here to serve you”.

Bommai mentioned the high demand for housing in many villages and pointed out that during his tenure, the government provided Rs 5 lakhs for house construction, but the current government has reduced this amount. After becoming an MP, he has initiated plans to open a bank in Chandapur.

The survey has already been conducted, and the bank will be operational within two to three months. He will also take steps to start a college from the next academic year.
