Haveri (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai,in response to Minister Zameer Ahmed’s allegations of no development in Shiggaon, assembly constituency in the last 15 years, said that one should look at the development of the Shiggaon-Savanur constituency with the eyes God has given, and not with X-ray eyes, which would only see bones.
While campaigning for BJP candidate Bharat Bommai in Kyalakonda village, he sought to know whether politics is just about making accusations against each other or about development?.
He recalled that when he came to this constituency in 2008, it was classified as a backward taluk according to the D.M.Nanjundappa report.
In the last 15 years,he had responded to the people’s requests and worked accordingly.“You know the fate of the requests you made to the previous MLAs.You have faith in me, and I have maintained that trust.”
Bommai said he did not misuse the power they gave me for personal gain, even to the size of a sesame seed, but worked for the development of the constituency.
He contrasted previous MLAs,who would claim credit for one project over five years, with the current expectations, noting that times have changed and people are now more aware and seek continuous development.
While acknowledging that development is challenging, but he has been continuously working towards it.
The MP asserted that he has worked for all communities and pointed out that some Congress members believe certain communities are reserved solely for them. “People stay with those who work for them,” he said highlighting the unity in his constituency.
Referring to his resignation,he alleged that Congress forced people to make frequent trips to the police station.
In a democracy, power should belong to the people, not the police. When they go to a police station, both the complainant and the accused end up paying the police. The people to elect Bharat Bommai to prevent such misuse of power.
Bommai admitted that initially, he was reluctant to field Bharat in the election, but three surveys indicated that Bharat was a winning candidate.
Furthermore, several senior leaders in the constituency expressed concerns that communal riots might increase if the constituency fell into Congress’s hands and that they would be left helpless.
The party high command also approved Bharat’s candidacy.Bharat is still young and will achieve more development than I did.”
He urged the people to realize the power of their vote and to elect his son and the BJP candidate.
