Proposal to stop Shakti scheme after Lok Sabha polls: Bommai

Hubballi:Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai said there are discussions underway to halt the Shakti scheme after the Lok Sabha elections, with attempts being made to exclude half of the beneficiaries.

Speaking to reporters in the here on Saturday,he said that the Shakti scheme was implemented solely for political purposes and that the proposal to discontinue it has begun now,to be carried out step by step after the Lok Sabha elections if it fails to benefit the party.

The state government has moved to revise its commitments, imposed several conditions, and made some amendments and half of the beneficiaries have already been eliminated from the scheme.

Bommai further said the state government is now financially bankrupt. No matter what the Chief Minister says or claims, it’s not his assertion but that of the ruling party’s MLAs themselves.

The financial situation of the state is so dire that it cannot even repair a small road. The state government is caught in a debt trap, having borrowed Rs.1 lakh crore last year and an additional Rs.1 lakh crore this year.

The former CM slammed the government’s budget, saying that taxes over Rs.20,000 crore have been imposed on the public and that the government’s financial management has been ineffective.

The MP Bommai accused the state government of unjustly blaming the central government, asserting that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had already provided the necessary funds to the state as per requirements. But the Chief Minister has been repeatedly lying in this matter.

highlighting the Valmiki scam,Bommai said out of the Rs 187 crore project,a scam worth Rs.100 crore was reported, which the Chief Minister himself admitted, including the acknowledgment of a 60 per cent commission government.

The government’s mismanagement and rampant corruption have led to failure across various sectors. The government will face bankruptcy soon and that Karnataka is heading towards financial distress, making people question if they need such a government, he warned.

On the issue of Waqf land and temples,Bommai said a state-wide protest will be held on Monday regarding the Waqf issue, for which all arrangements have been made, and protests will be held in every constituency.

The influence of the Waqf is increasing, and much is coming to light about it.The BJP as decided to fight against this.

CM must respect the PM:

Expressing disappoint, former CM and MP Basavaraj Bommai said it is unfortunate if the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah does not know how to address the Prime Minister with respect.

Speaking in Hubballi,he said the CM’s response to the Prime Minister’s tweet lacked decorum.”As the Chief Minister of the state,Siddaramaiah should know how to address the Prime Minister.Forgetting basic courtesy is unfortunate.”

“There may be differences in opinions, but we respect the Chief Minister and expect him to show the same respect towards the Prime Minister.Lacking even this basic courtesy does not bode well for democracy and the federal system,”Bommai added.
