tate award winning Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad was found dead at his flat at Madanayakanahalli,on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday morning.
His neighbours in the apartment alerted the police on Sunday after foul smell started emanating from his flat, which was locked from inside.
The police broke open the door to find him dead.The body was found in a highly decomposed state.
The director,who was 52 years of age,is survived by wife and two daughters.Industry insiders said the filmmaker was under financial stress.
Guruprasad,who started his career as a poultry scientist, turned director owing to his love for movies.He debuted with Matha,starring Jaggesh.
The movie delved into the world of mathas.Jaggesh was presented with the Karnataka State Film Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film.
The incident came to light when neighbours noticed foul smell and alerted the security.
The security guard along with the association members rushed to the apartment and peeped through the window to saw guruprasad hanging.
SP, CK,Baba told the media that guruprasad came to his flat five days ago and stayed alone.He did not come out and stayed inside.
We believe the death occurred several days ago,with early indications suggesting that financial stress or other unresolved personal issues may have led him to take his own life.
It was found that the neighbours had last seen the director about a week prior.Growing concerned after noticing his prolonged absence and detecting a foul odor from his flat,they informed the authorities.
Police officers who arrived at the scene found Guruprasad’s body in a decomposed state,hanging from a ceiling fan.
The residents shocked that they wanted to felicitate guruprasad on kannada rajyotsava celebration at the apartment complexes scheduled next week.
A shop keeper was emotional stating that he was very kind and generous.
Film actors remembered him and condoled the death.
The police are probing in all angels to ascertain the cause of death..
Guruprasad had suffering from prolonged illness and financial difficulties.
Even though he had two marriages his wives stayed separate..
A case has been registered,and further investigation is underway.
