family lunch turned tragic as three members of the family drowned in a lake after they ventured into it to play in Kammattanahalli village in the outskirts of Chikkaballapura on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjith,27,native of Patapalli srinivas pur taluk,Ramya N,24,resident of Bidadi near Abbinaguppe and Abhilash Lakshminaryanappa,21,resident of Kittagaanahalli near Bangalore.
The trio are relatives who had come to the village to one of their relatives house to attend family lunch arranged at the farm house of one of their relatives post Deepawali celebration.
After lunch the trio wondered around the farm house and reached the pond filled with rain water.Ramya ventured into the pond to play and soon lost control due to the silt and started drowning .
Ranjith and Abhilaksh jumped into the lake to rescue her but since do not know swimming drowned too.The pond was 20 feet deep and filled with murky water and silt,the police,said .
Hearing the commotion other family members rushed to their help and alerted the police but it was too late.
The police with the help of villagers recovered the bodies and sent it for post-mortem.
The Peresandra police have registered a case a of un natural death and awaiting post-mortem report for further investigation.
