In a swift action,the JB Nagar police on Saturday arrested a 17-year-old boy for desecrating Bhuvaneshwari statue situated out the temple on BEML main road in the wee hours of Friday.
The youth,who failed in his 10th exam thrice was frustrated and wanted to vent his ire on the god.He was agitated and even mentally disturbed used to fight with his family members frequently,the police,said .
The accused walked into the temple and attacked the statue installed adjacent to the temple and escaped .
The incident came to light when temple priest came on Friday morning and noticed the statue was desecrated and alerted the temple committee.
The news soon spread like a wild fire giving communal color to the incident.The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control before tracking the accused down.
The accused has been booked under JJ Act and produced him before the committee for further course of action,a senior police officer,said .
Even though the issue is resolved amicably,the problem persisted as many statues and idols were kept unattended around the temple and religious places without providing any security cover said a senior officer.
