ursuing a hit and run case reported a week ago,the Kamakshipalya traffic police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old cab driver who ran over a bike rider who crashed into the car in a freak accident on Thigalarapalya main road in the wee hours of November 13.
The deceased Shashi Kumar,a fabricator by profession was returning home on his two wheeler at around 2 am. It was raining and the deceased was riding in rash without wearing helmet .
While negotiating a right turn,he crashed into the car coming from opposite direction and fell on the front wheel of the car.
The driver who was panicked tried to take reverse and in the melee run over Shashi Kumar and escaped,killing him on the spot .
The Kamakshipalya traffic police based on the information, rushed to the spot and registered a case of hit and run case and gathered CCTV from in and around the area to identify the vehicle.
Tracking down the vehicle was difficult as it was dark and the footages were not clear to identify the number plate of the vehicle,a senior police officer,part of the investigation said.
However following the CCTV footage from backside it was found that the accused had come in another car and boarded another car which was involved in the accident.
The police verified some more footage to track down the car and finally arrested Khaza Moidddin 24 years Resident of C R Pattana in Hassan .
Probe revealed that Moiddin had come to pick up his employer from Channapatna for some work in the city and was returning home,when the incident occurred .
The police have also arrested the owner of the car charging the duo under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving.
