Radical changes in Jaljeevan Mission Scheme works
The goal is permanent solution to the problem of flooding
The alliance government has proposed an additional expenditure of Rs.30 thousand crores.
Scheme: Jaljeevan Mission
Purpose: Protected water supply from house to house through tap connections
What was done in the previous government?: Tap connections were given to 70.04 lakh houses in villages. Expenditure: Rs.4,128 crores
What happened?: More than half of the connections are not getting water. In most places the faucets are left decorative
Reason?: During the reverse rule of the Vaikapa government.. despite the lack of availability of adequate water resources, large number of tap connections were given in the villages. Then he raised his hand.
Today, Amaravati: The coalition government is making radical changes in the works of Jaljeevan Mission. The plan is to provide drinking water 365 days through the tap connections given to the houses in the villages. The designs will be changed so that water will be moved from nearby reservoirs and rivers through pipelines and supplied to the people even in summer. About 40,000 works proposed by the previous Vaikapa government to dig boreholes and supply water from them are being cancelled. On the orders of Chief Minister Chandrababu Babu, officials have prepared comprehensive project reports worth Rs. 60 thousand crores for the permanent solution of drinking water problem in villages. According to revised estimates, the cost of the project is increasing by Rs. 30 thousand crores.. The government is willing. They will soon be sent to the Central Government with the approval of the State Estimates Committee. The Vaikapa government has corrupted the Jaljeevan Mission started by the Center by not properly disbursing state share funds. Due to the lack of planning in the works undertaken in the last five years, they have been left behind. In most districts, water availability or tap connections have become decorative in front of houses.
Water with bores has to be shaken in summer..
Every year since the beginning of summer, the availability of water in the bores is decreasing as the ground water is receding. The situation is almost the same for all four months of summer. Most of the districts are not able to provide water through drinking water schemes which depend on boreholes but are supplied by tankers in most of the districts. Even in such circumstances, the previous government had proposed works at a cost of Rs 27,248 crore to supply water to taps through boreholes in the Jaljeevan Mission. Out of 77,917 works, 23,871 have been completed in the last five years. It also includes newly dug boreholes. Many of these bores have been dug in the summer in the last two years. Due to this, people are afraid of drinking water.
Even if the cost is high..
The alliance government hopes to get a permanent solution to the problem of drinking water in the villages by collecting and supplying water from reservoirs and rivers through pipelines and canals. In addition to the existing 70.04 lakh tap connections in the villages, an additional 25.40 lakhs are to be provided. The government has ordered the Rural Drinking Water Supply Department to complete this process and take up works to provide water to the villages throughout the year from the nearby reservoirs even if the cost is high. In this direction, comprehensive project reports have been prepared for water supply to villages from Prakasam Barrage, Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir, Penna Ahobilam, Gandikota, Totapalli, Godavari, Vamsadhara rivers and reservoirs. After purifying the water brought through the pipelines, it will be connected to the overhead service reservoir, balancing reservoir and sumps in the villages and will be supplied to the people through taps. Due to this, the estimated cost is Rs. 30 thousand crores more than before.. The alliance government is trying to convince the center and take approval.
