Puducherry:Hon’ble Lt.Governor K.Kailashnathan inaugurated the Gyan Kumbh-a national-level academic conclave at Pondicherry University.In his address,he emphasized the need for a transformative education system that aligns with the vision of a developed India.
A Call for Value-Based Education:
The Lt.Governor highlighted the importance of education in shaping individuals and society.He emphasized that education should not merely focus on technical skills but also on character building and inculcating positive values.He underscored the need to balance knowledge with skills,life values,and a positive attitude.
NEP 2020:A Blueprint for a Developed India:
Highlighting the significance of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020,the Lt.Governor stated that it is a crucial step towards realizing the vision of a developed India.He outlined five key transformations that education can facilitate.
Peaceful Co-existence: Fostering harmony among diverse sections of society.
Value-Based Family Life: Promoting strong family values.
Environmentally Conscious Lifestyles:Encouraging sustainable practices.Financial Security: Developing skills for economic empowerment.
Civic Responsibility: Cultivating a sense of duty and participation.Celebrating India’s Diversity:
The Lt.Governor emphasized the importance of Indian languages and regional cultures.He urged educational institutions to promote the development of Indian languages as languages of science,technology, education,employment,justice, and administration.
He also called for the integration of local and regional history into the curriculum, highlighting the contributions of eminent figures like Srinivasa Ramanujan,C.V. Raman, and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Puducherry:A Model for New Education:
The Lt. Governor expressed hope that Puducherry, with its rich educational heritage, would emerge as a model for implementing the NEP 2020.
