Bhovi scam:CCB to probe businesswoman and advocate case says commissioner B Dayananda

The death of 35-year-old businesswoman and advocate, due to alleged harassment from a Deputy Superintendent of Police,CID on Friday,has been referred to Central Crime Branch for a detailed investigation.

The victim,Jeeva allegedly involved is one of the accused in Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation scam was summoned by Dy SP, Kanakalakshmi at her office,stripped and humiliated her on the pretext of questioning her.

The officer allegedly refused to accept the documents submitted by the victim and demanded Rs.25 lakh bribe .

She again visited the victim’s shop on Thursday and abused and humiliated publicly,which prompted her to take the extreme step .

The victim took her life and left behind a 11 page death note accusing the officer for her extreme step.

Based on the complaint filed by victim’s sister,the Banashankari police had registered a case of abetment to suicide and also booked the officer under Prevention of Corruption Act.

Taking a strong objection, the advocates association demanded CBI inquiry into the case,following which the City police commissioner ordered CCB probe.
