Tumakuru police cracks the whip on 72 drug peddlers and booked 32 cases& seized 1700 Tapendon and Aspodal tablets with other synthetic drugs

Ahead of new year,the Tumakuru police crack down on drug peddlers booked 32 cases seized 1720 tablets of Tapendon and Aspodal tablets this year which according to the growing popular among the addicts.

The police have also seized 44 kilos of Marijuna and Tapentadol,a narcotic pain reliever and Aspadol,used to treat moderate to severe acute pain total worth Rs.19.3 lakh.

The police have booked 32 cases and arrested 72 people involved in sale of drugs .

Senior officer told reporters,the tablets has becoming new trend among the addicts because of its easy availability and failed to detected by the police .

These tablets are bought in medical shops over the counter and dissolved in water and injected to get the kick for over 48 hours .

Even the police could not detected through narcotics analyser as it is medical drugs and does not comes under Marijuana or synthetic drugs .

Even though the drug control department has banned the sale of drugs without prescription,some medical shops are selling the tablets illegally for a higher prices, the police added .

It may be recalled that the tablets being used as replacement to drugs were on the rise in Bengaluru and the police along with the drug control department crack down on medical stores which were selling the tablets illegally .

The use of tablets as alternate drugs came to light when the police discovered used syringes found lying randomly near bars and roadside and initiated a probe.

The police analysed CCTV footage and tracked down few youth using the drugs.A detailed questioning led them to crack down on few medical stores selling drugs.

We have intensified the drive to crack down on the drug menace in the district and stepped up the vigil ”, Superintendent of Police, tumakuru district , KV Ashok, said.
