RSS leader Sunil Ambekar made key comments on the tensions in Bangladesh.
“The Centre should try hard and take concrete steps. I hope the problem can be resolved through talks. If that is not possible, then find another solution. There is no peace in a country run by a Nobel Peace Prize winner (Muhammad Yunus),” he said. He mentioned the situation in Bangladesh on this occasion.
The arrest of Chinmoy Krishnadas by the Dhaka police on charges of disrespecting the Bangladesh flag has led to severe tensions. Hindus there have staged large-scale protests against this arrest. A lawyer has died in these protests. India has expressed deep concern over the attacks on Hindus and other minorities there. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has conveyed this to the government there. He recently went to Dhaka and met with the country’s Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin. Misri also met with the head of the interim government, Mohammad Yunus
The meeting was followed by the release of a report on the attacks by Bangladesh the next day. Bangladesh said there were 88 incidents of religious violence against minorities between August 5 and October 22, after Sheikh Hasina resigned. It said 70 people had been arrested in connection with the incidents.
