China is deploying its navy around Taiwan at its highest level in three decades, prompting Beijing to warn Taipei against tolerating separatism.
Recently, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te visited Hawaii and Guam, both US territories. These actions have deeply angered Beijing. In this context, Taiwan has started massive military deployments around it. Speaking to an English news agency, a senior Taiwanese official said that Beijing is doing this to send a political message to the new executive committee that will take charge in America. The Taiwanese military estimated that the Chinese army had been planning for about 70 days and had carried out the latest deployments to that extent. The government of Taiwanese President Lai has already denied Beijing’s sovereign rights over their country.
Taiwan’s Defense Ministry responded on Tuesday by saying Beijing had deployed its navy to the highest level in three decades, posing a more serious threat than previous Chinese military exercises.
