Karnataka Lokayukta police raid 10 government officials,uncover assets worth Rs.48 crore

T he Lokayukta officials on Tuesday carried a series of raids against ten government officials in six districts across the state,for having disproportionate assets to their known source of income .

After gathering information based on the complaints several teams of officials conducted raids in Bengaluru, Bengaluru district,Gadag,Kalaburagi,Raichur,and Chitradurga and recovered properties and documents for verification.

The accused officials who have been raided have been identified as Lokesh Babu,Superintendent engineer, BESCOM,Revenue inspector,Suresh Babu,and BBMP tax inspector,Krishnappa.

Officials also raided properties belonging to Sunil Kumar, district health officer in Bengaluru Rural,and Nanjundayya,an Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Channapatna Police Training School,Lakshman,SDA, Executive Engineer officer,Gadag,Ramappa, Superintendent engineer,(assistant commissioner), Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike,Ramesh Excise Inspector , Koppal Taluk Raichur district,Suresh,Assistant Conservator of Forest,Hiriyur sub division,Chitradurga , MC Sunil Kumar,District health officer,Bengaluru district.

Among the raided officials,Nanjundaiah,deputy superintendent of police at Channapatna police training school in Ramanagara,was found to possess five sites and one house worth over Rs.11 crore.His total properties were valued at Rs 12.5 crore

However,a Lokayukta note issued in connection with the raids did not mention details of the disproportionate assets.

During the raids,Lokayukta unearthed properties worth Rs.37 crore in the form of sites,houses and lands,Rs.49 lakh in cash,jewellery worth Rs.3 crore and vehicles valued at Rs.1.9 crore.

This is the second biggest raid carried out by Lokayukta officials as in November this year Lokayukta Police seized assets total worth Rs. 22 crore from nine government officials across the state conducted raids at 37 locations across the state .
