The Upparapet police are on the lookout for an autorickshaw driver for assaulting and robbing a 34-year-old tailor on the pretext of dropping him to the bus stand on Monday night .
The victim,Mahendra Kumar,from Azamgarh in UP working as Talior at a readymade garment factory in Tirpur in Tamilnadu,had come to Bengaluru to see his friend.
After getting down at the KSR Railway station at around 8.30 pm,Mahendra Kumar inquired with an autorickshaw driver outside the station for the address to catch a bus to Bagepalli.
He wanted to go to Bagepalli to meet his friend Pradeep for work .
The driver asked him Rs.40 to drop him to the bus stand, took him around for one hour before he stopped the autorickshaw at an isolated place .
Before Mahindra could react,the accused assaulted him and robbed his wallet and phone total worth Rs.12,000 and sped away.
Battered and bruised Mahendra Kumar reached his friend and with his help,he approached the police and filed a complaint.
The police are verifying the CCTV footages from in and around the area to identify the accused .
