Chikkaballapur district fast track court sentenced labourer for 7 years imprisonment with fine of Rs.25,000 in POCSO case

The Chikkaballapur district fast track court convicted a 22-year-old labourer with seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.25,000 for attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl in his neighbourhood in Bhoomishettyhalli in Chikkaballapur on July 2020.

The victim had gone to fetch water when the accused confronted her and dragged her into the washroom in an attempt to rape her.The victim when resisted the accused threatened her with dire consequences .

The victim managed to escape and alerted her mother . Meanwhile father of the accused Anjanappa,confronted the victim and family and threatened them with dire consequences not to complain to the police.

However the family filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Kencharahalli police station who arrested the accused charging them under POCSO and also under criminal intimidation

The court convicted the Kalyan sentencing him with seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.25,000 while Anjanappa was sentenced with six months imprisonment . The court also ordered a compensation of ₹ two lakh to the victim.

Labourer and his female friend convicted for setting man on fire :

In another case, the second additional District and session court convicted a 39-year-old labourer and his 55-year-old female friend sentencing them to life imprisonment and fine of Rs.30,000 each in a murder case.

The convict Ramakrishna,a labourer from Baddihally in Tumakuru had an illicit affair with Annapoorna,39,wife of 52-year-old Narayana G, a factory employee.

Narayana used to object to this and the couple used to have frequent fight.The accused Annapoorna hatched a plan with Ramakrishna to eliminate Narayana .

On September 2021,the accused poured petrol through the window while Narayana was sitting inside the house and set him on fire .

When Narayana came out seeking help the accused chased him and pushed him into the drain and crushed his his head with a boulder,killing him on the spot.

Based on the complaint filed by Lakshminarasimhaiah G, elder brother of the deceased who suspected the role of Annapoorna citing illicit affair,which the deceased had discussed with his brother earlier.

The Jayanagar police have registered a case of murder and arrested the duo and filed charge-sheet against them.
