he Attibele police opened fire at a Rowdy-Sheeter,who allegedly attacked a police constable in a bid to escape in the outskirts of the city on thursday morning.
The suspect is Sunil who is wanted in over eight cases, including murder and attempt to murder was on the run.
“Sunil used to collected hafta (protection money)from another Rowdy Sheeter named Manu operated in the area and run his syndicate to operate illegal activities .
Based on specific information that Sunill is moving in Bandapura,a team from the Attibele station rushed to the area and surrounded Sunil .
The police asked him to surrender,but Sunil in a bid to escape attacked police constable Vinay.Vinay sustained some injuries.The Attibele police inspector warned Sunil to surrender and opened fire .
Sunil sustained injuries on his right leg and was taken to a hospital along with Constable Vinay .
The duo was recovering and the police have registered a case of assaulting police officer for further investigation.
This is the second case of police opening fire at at the anti social elements.
The Jigani police on Monday opened fire on Lokesh B, who had cases of murder and extortion,had attacked a police constable, leading to the shot being fired, senior officers had said.
