Three held for throwing eggs at BJP MLA Munirathna in Bengaluru

As many as three people have been detained for allegedly throwing eggs at BJP MLA Munirathna while he was walking with his associates after attending a public program at Lakshmi Devi nagar near kanteerava stadio on Wednesday.

MLA,Munirathna was walking along with his party workers after

participating in an event to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Nandini Layout at around 11.30 am.

DCP North Division, Saidulla Adavath,briefing about the incident said that the police had made adequate arrangements and even suggested him to get into the vehicle as precautionary measure.

But MLA ignored the suggestion and started walking when few people hurled eggs at him.He was immediately surrounded as part of security cover protocol and detained three suspects.

Munirathna later taken to hospital for medical check up and the police are awaiting complaint to take further action.

Soon after the attack Munirathna and his associates staged a protest demanding strict action against the perpetrators .

They accused ruling Congress party workers for the attack and demanded necessary action.The protestors also alleged security lapses which led to the attack.

Refusing the allegations Mr.Adavath said that adequate police security has been deployed at the public function and the program went peaceful..

However the egg was thrown from the opposite side of the road while Munirathna was walking.
