48-year-old businessman ended his life due to alleged harassment from his business partner at a lodge in Hulimavu on Monday.
The deceased Kalol Dutta,was having a catering business partnership with AJ Mariswamy supplying food to hospital canteens since 2018.
The duo had agreed to share the profit but during covid the business went down and he incurred huge loss.
The accused Mariswamy started harassing him to bear the loss.Kalol borrowed loan and sold the gold valuables to repay the loss, but Mariswamy allegedly continued to harass him.
In her complaint Sajini Dutta,wife of the deceased said that Mariswamy used to harass her husband to handover the hospital canteen business to him and abuse him verbally over the phone everyday.
Unable to bear the harassment Kalol checked into the room of a lodge in Hulimavu and ended life by hanging .
Based on the complaint,the Hulimavu police have registered a case charging Mariswamy under section 108 (abetment to suicide) for further investigations.
