The surprise inspections carried out by Lokayukta officials on the BBMP offices across the city large scale irregularities with no maintenance of records,Missing files and officials,long pendency work and interference of middlemen and contract ad private employees ruling the offices .
The inspection led by Lokayukta Justice BS Patil on January 10th
carrying series of inspection simultaneously in nine taluk offices in Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts,revealed that except contract employees no permanent employees were present at the office hours .
Adding to the worst these officials did not turn up even calling them to come to the office during the inspection.
In some offices private people have been hired by the permanent employees on salary basis to work for them at the government offices,which is gross violations of the service rules.
There are no records,no registered maintained for work pendency,tender projects and no cash registered .
In some offices the Lokayukta officials recovered unaccounted cash which is being probed .
Majority of the offices did not have sign boards containing the service offered for the public.There are no updated of the status of the applications filed online by members of general public seeking various services not any updates and details of the tenders projects and inspection,status reports.
Two BBMP officials, Second Division Assistant Kavita and Sujatha,have been suspended after a Lokayukta raided on the BBMP South Zone office.
The officials were found guilty of misusing their authority and neglecting their duties.
During the raid, Kavita,a second division assistant (SDA) in the Assistant Revenue Officer’s office in South End Circle,had given the office login ID and password to her son Naveen and sent him to work in her place.
When questioned during the raid,Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa had said that Naveen himself had admitted that he was working on behalf of his mother to avoid inconvenience to the public.
Kavita was also found to have illegally appointed an assistant,Geetha.The Lokayukta had filed a case against Kavita,Sujatha,Naveen,and Geetha at the Siddapura police station.
The raid was conducted by a team of Lokayukta officials led by Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa on January 10. Second Division Assistant (SDA) Kavita and Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) Sujatha,have been accused of misusing their powers. Both have been suspended in this context.
An FIR has now been registered at Siddapura police station based on the Lokayukta’s complaint.As soon as the FIR was registered, the BBMP suspended both SDA Kavita and ARO Sujatha.
The Lokayukta with the list of lapses and irregularities summoned the senior official concerned seeking explanation based on which necessary action will be taken.
