xcited about the offer of getting a brand new mobile phone for purchasing a SIM cost the software engineer lost a total of Rs.2.8 Crore.
The victim,working in a tech firm in the city and living in whitefield had purchased a new SIM Card the cyber crooks sent him a mobile phone stating that he was lucky winner .
Excited by the offer,the victim installed the SIM in the received mobile phone.Soon he started receiving messages which was linked to the mobile phone of the accused to access the details through a bus in the form of APP installed in the mobile .
Using the confidential information,the accused accessed his bank account and withdrew the money online.
The money transaction was made from the outside the country using different gateways,a senior officer,said adding that efforts are to track down the accused through the money trail .
