he Bagalur police have arrested a 35-year-old rowdy-sheeter for brutally killing his friend, over a financial row on January 10,carrying the body to Tamilnadu and setting it on fire to destroy evidence.
The accused Brijesh, a rowdy-sheeter with Bharatinagar Police Station,had a business dealing with his friend Gunashekhar,a dog breeder by profession.
Brijesh used to get gold-plated jewels,pledge them as gold ornaments at different shops through Gunashekhar and get money.
Recently during an audit,one of the shops realised that they were cheated and the pawned gold was fake and demanded Gunashekhar to return the money or face legal action.
Scared, Gunashekhar approached Brijesh and started demanding the money back.
Unable to bear the pressure, Brijesh called Gunashekhar to a flat on the pretext of returning money and shot him dead using a country-made pistol.
The accused later carried the body in a gunny bag,drove to Tamilnadu and set the body on fire in a forest area in Pennagaram police station limits.
Few passers-by noticed this and alerted the police who have registered a case of murder for further investigation.
Meanwhile,Gunashekhar’s wife,found he did not return home and checked near the apartment where he visited for work.
With the help of police,she checked the CCTV footage and found Brijesh carrying the dead body in a gunny bag.
The Bagalur police,who had registered a missing complaint,converted it into a murder case and tracked down Brijesh near Amritsar in Punjab.
Brijesh runs a fake gold business and has cheated many gold shops,the probe revealed.The police have taken Brijesh into custody for further investigation a senior officer said.
