Alert custom officials busted another wildlife smuggling racket and arrested two women carrying birds and animals concealed in check in baggage from Malysia .
The duo identified as Hajira Bi Mohammed Nayeem Khan and Shahnaz Shafi Sheikh,from Maharastra aged around 50 years were caught after they landed in Kempegowda International Airport from Malaysia .
Based on passengers profiling and specific inputs,the custom officials intercepted the duo and checked the bags to find the birds and animals stuffed in plastic containers and kept in check-in-bags .
The duo according to the officials are working as careers for the international smuggling trade and supposed to handover the consignment to their contacts waiting outside the airport.
The rescued birds including Bali Myna,Wilson bird of Paradise,Double Eyed fig parrot,Albino Finlayson’s squirrels and Salvador fig parrots .
The duo were offered free trip and money to carry the consignments and hand over to their contact after confirming the code words.
The rescued birds and animals have been quarantined at the airport designated centre and process is on to deport them back, the custom officials,said .
