Four,including minor,held for robbing passengers on moving train

In a swift action,the railway police on Tuesday arrested a gang of four including a juvenile from Mysuru involved in armed robbery on the moving train between Mysuru and Ben galuru on Monday.

The accused identified as Sheikh Suhail,22,a mechanic from Bharat Nagar,Mysuru,Suhail Khan,20,Autorickshaw driver,Mohammed Yaseen,labourers at a Untensil making unit and a juvenile aged 17 years from Mysuru were arrested .

The accused barged into the boogie and assaulted the passengers including Chandan KN,26,an autorickshaw driver and threatened the passengers with lethal weapons and robbed his mobile and cash while the train was moving between Maddur and Channapattana at around 11.30,Chandan,an autorickshaw driver by profession had boarded the train from Mysuru to reach Bengaluru.

The accused even threatened the other passenger – Gagan Nayak,Shivananda,Surendra V and Raju,and robbed their mobile phones and cash.

The accused later moved to the adjacent bogie and jumped when the train slow down near Ramanagara train.

The victim reached the city and filed a complaint with the City railway police.

Considering the magnitude of the case,Superintendent of Police,SK Soumyalatha formed a special team to probe the case.

The accused had used one of the robbed phone which gave major clue about the location of the accused.The CCTV footage recovered from different stations helped the police to identify the accused and arrested them.

The police have also recovered cash Rs.6830 and six mobile phones from them.Except Yaseen,who was earlier booked in a bike theft case in Goruru police station,the other accused do not have any criminal past and ganged up to make quick money,the officer,said.

The accused have been booked under robbery and under Arms act and taken into custody for further investigation.
