A nation with culture and values has a bright future: Bommai

Haveri (Ranebennur):Mutts play a crucial role in preserving and nurturing culture and values.A nation that upholds its cultural heritage and moral values will have a bright future, said former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.

He was speaking today at the 156th Punyatithi (memorial service) of Shri Guru Sharan Basaveshwara and a religious gathering in Kakola village,Ranebennur Taluk.

He said they have celebrated the 156th Punyatithi of Sharan Basaveshwara with great devotion. This mutt should continue to grow and develop.

Previous legislators have provided grants, and the work must be completed.Necessary steps will be taken to ensure its completion.Funds will also be allocated from my grant for the construction of a Sabha Bhavan (community hall).

The MP said mutts are essential for fostering cultural and moral values.A mutt exists only when there are spiritual leaders.

A Guru must be appointed for this mutt as soon as possible.A country that holds onto its cultural and moral values will have a bright future.

A nation without culture and values will lack peace, and where there is no peace, there can be no progress. To live in a society, one must respect others.

Unfortunately, today we see conflicts in the name of religion. In reality, the only true religion in the world is ‘human religion.’

All other religions are man-made.Their conscience is born with them, and if they think in harmony with the conscience, humanity itself becomes their religion. That is why Basavanna said,’Compassion is the root of Dharma”.

Bommai said birth and death are not in our hands, yet they constantly worry about them. However, life is in their hands, and they seldom think about it.

No one is born great; they become great through their deeds and actions. The ultimate purpose of life is to understand why God has sent them to this world.

If they ask ourselves this question and find the answers within, their lives will be filled with peace and contentment.

They are all born as humans, but only a few become truly humane.A person trapped in desire, anger, attachment, pride, and envy is just a human, whereas one bound by love, trust, and faith is truly humane. The journey of life is about transforming from a mere human into a compassionate being.

Mutts cannot exist without devotees. There must be a strong bond between a Guru and his disciples.A Guru should not only preach but also lead by example.

When disciples follow the Guru’s teachings, true devotion is realized. Devotion is about completely surrendering to the Guru’s words.

This is the purest form of love—just like the love between a mother and her child or the bond between true friends. I hope such noble values flourish in this village,” he said.

He also assured that discussions would be held with officials to implement an uninterrupted power supply scheme for Kakola village.

Additionally, he promised to arrange a designated bus stop on the national highway as requested by the villagers.

The event was graced by the divine presence of Abhinava Siddharameshwara Shivayogi Swamiji from Vijayapura. Senior village leader Rajshekhar Gouda Patil, former district panchayat member Renuka Jadhav, and many others were present.
