Guarantee schemes implemented for political gain, says Bommai
Gadag:Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has accused the state government of implementing guarantee schemes for political gain while failing to uphold the dignity of women.
Speaking to the media in Gadag on Friday, he said the so-called ‘guarantee’schemes are politically motivated and aimed at securing votes. These schemes are deceiving the people, especially mothers.
The funds under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme have not been disbursed properly in any given month.People are even asking whether the Gruha Lakshmi money is a salary.
It is meant to be an honorarium. If the government has failed to disburse it monthly,it means they have failed to respect women.
The MP said the state’s financial position is in complete disarray, but the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah refuses to acknowledge it.
Not only is there no money for guarantee schemes, but there is also no funding for development. Except for loan-based projects, nothing else is being done.
The government has failed to allocate funds even for drinking water projects, pushing people into difficulties. The prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed.
They are collecting taxes and returning them in the form of guarantee schemes, but even in that, the government has completely failed.
The former CM charged the Congress government of trying to cover up its failures by instigating unrest. As they lack the will to focus on development, they are attempting to create disturbances like the Udayagiri riots and encouraging communal violence.
The High Court has already given its verdict on the hijab issue, and the matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court. “As per the 1980 education policy, a uniform dress code has been accepted.
However, there are attempts to introduce the hijab again. Certain organizations are pushing for the hijab, and the government is allegedly supporting them.
Regarding the ongoing protests to save nine universities from the closure under the garb that old universities have turned into white elephants,Bommai said hundreds of crores are being spent on them, yet exams are not being conducted properly, research is not happening, and no productive work is being carried out.
These universities have become hubs of corruption. Instead of fixing these issues, the government is shutting down new universities.
In fact, local students were receiving education at a minimalist cost, especially benefiting SC, ST, OBC, and female students, who had enrolled in large numbers.
This decision has dealt a severe blow to their future. The BJP will not allow the closure of the new university and will fight a legal battle against it.
