Thilak Nagar police cracked the whip on fake news peddler and booked for sharing fake news of bike stunts to spread confusion and unrest in the society

The Thilak Nagar police cracked the whip on fake news peddler and booked a case after a social media post containing fake news of bike stunts and wheeling went viral on social media on Friday.

The fake news with a video where few youth performing bike stunts with a caption stating wheeling and bike stunts are performed on Tumakuru and Nelamangala road on Shaban festival,went viral and even picked up by some local news portals and print media.

The social media monitoring staff who came to know about the fake news being peddled,filed a complaint with the police seeking legal action.

The police based on the complaint by Prakash,police constable,social media monitoring cell, the Thilak Nagar police registered a non cognizable case against the person spreading the news .

The police crossed checked the incident and said that the incident did not happen in Tumakuru district and the fake news is being circulated to spread confusion and unrest in the society,the police,said.

It may be recalled that a group of people are active on social media targetting a monitoring community and ruling Congress governments defaming then with fake information..

Many such people are booked by police earlier and arrested.This perticular news is also suspected to have been spread by same group,a senior officer,said .

The police have summoned the person who circulated the news from his social media account for questioning and to ascertain his contacts and affiliation.
