inisters are silent due to influence of Marathi population:Bommai
Haveri:Former CM and Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha member Basavaraja Bommai urged the state government to first take strict action against those who harass Kannadigas and exterminate them, besides initiating stringent measures against those who insult Kannadigas.
Speaking to the media in Haveri on Monday,Bommai complimented the KSRTC bus conductor who boldly spoke in Kannada and wanted the government to expel those who harass Kannadigas and immediately withdraw the POCSO case filed against the conductor.
Bommai strongly slammed the ministers for speaking leniently on the issue and charged that they have fallen under the influence of Marathi-speaking individuals.
The BJP will fully support the protests being led by Kannada activists. The state government must engage a dialogue with the Maharashtra government and issue a stern warning to troublemakers.
“It is unacceptable for people to consume food and water here and then use derogatory terms against Kannadigas.Such individuals must be expelled immediately,”he asserted.
Recalling a similar incident during his tenure as Chief Minister, the MP said his government had taken strict action at the time.
Asked about the alleged misuse of SC/ST funds (SCP and TSP) for other purposes, the former CM accused the government of being unjust to marginalized communities.
Despite speaking about social justice, the government was diverting SCP and TSP funds for guarantee schemes instead of allocating them properly to SC/ST communities.
Only 25 per cent of the already reduced funds for SC/ST corporations had been released so far.
