he Kothanur police have arrested a 50-year-old drunk man for slashing a woman face with a knife after she refused to pay him money in Bili Shivale circle on Monday.
The accused Ananda,according to the police was unemployed and chronic alcoholic used to beg for his vices.
On Monday evening he confronted Nagalakshmi,60,a resident of Yelahanka waiting for the bus.The accused demanded her money for which Nagalaskshmi refused and shooed him away.
Enraged by this the accused went home returned with a knife and slashed her cheek due to the attack she fell down and started bleeding and writhing on pain following which the accused escaped.
Few people around came to her rescue and taken her to the hospital before alerting the police.
Based on the complaint,the Kothanur police rushed to the spot recorded the statement of the victim and later track down the accused.He was remanded to judicial custody and further investigations are on,a senior officer, said .
It may be recalled that the East Division police arrested in February second week,the Indiranagar police had arrested a 21-year-old rowdy sheeter who had attacked five people including two pani puri vendors and a bike taxi driver with a knife over a trivial row.
The police formed four special teams and tracked him down after one week and arrested him along with his father,brother and sister who were supporting him.
