Whitefield traffic police constable in dock on charge of corruption for accepting bribe of Rs.500 from bike rider

A traffic police constable attached to whitefield traffic police station in the dock after he forced a two wheeler rider to pay a bribe of ₹500 after he was caught riding against one way on Friday.

Taking a strong objection to the corruption the bike rider raised a complaint with the senior police officials seeking action against constable Manjunath.

The incident occurred when the biker, a private firm employee was riding against one way on Varthur lake road when traffic constable Manjunath intercepted him .

Even though the biker agreed to pay the fine of ₹1,500 and demanded receipt,Manjunath insisted that he should transfer ₹500 instead to his PAYTM account and he would let him go .

After deliberations,the biker transferred the money and later raised the complaint along with the receipt of payment as a proof.

Based on the complaint,the matter was probed by the Assistant commissioner of police,Whitefield Division and the constable has been summoned for questioning.
