he Chamarajpet police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly making obscene gesture woman driving the car over road rage incident on Mysuru road on Thursday.
The arrested is Harsha HB,43,a software engineer from Vijayanagar was booked under section 79 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman).He was arrested and later released on station bail,the police said.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 4 pm near Gopalan Mall,when the victim Akshatha Ravikumar, member of Indian Youth Congress,posted her ordeal on her social media account tagging the senior police officials .
Narrating the incident,she said in her post “Women drivers in Bangalore face a lot of issues..After abusing, he breaks traffic rules and takes a U-turn(where there is no). And it was still Red signal…Happened at 4pm on Mysore- Bangalore road-gopalan mall..on Wednesday . So we got to listen to these & neglect?? (sic)‘” she posted on X” .
Senior officer told reporters,the investigation revealed that Akshatha was driving,was on her phone,and went past Harsha’s car.She also recorded the video while driving her car,the footage on her social media account showed.
“This led to a brief exchange of words before the suspect made the hand sign and drove away.
Harsha was with his family in the car at the time of the incident.Taking cognisance of the case,Sunil Kumbar, police constable of social media monitoring cell , registered an FIR and track down the accused through the registration number of the car.
