Congress’unlawful victory is temporary; We Will appeal in court against Contempt” Bommai

Gadag: Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai accused the Congress of committing a “murder of democracy”in the Gadag-Betageri City Municipality by violating a High Court order and engaging in contempt of court.

Speaking to the media in Gadag on Friday, he claimed that three BJP members of the municipality were suspended at midnight to prevent them from voting.

The suspended members were granted the right to appeal, but the election officer ignored this and acted under the instructions of District In-Charge Minister H.K. Patil.

Contending that conducting elections in defiance of the High Court order amounts to judicial contempt,Bommai slammed Assistant Commissioner for his audacity in disregarding the court’s directive, claiming that the official is neither qualified to hold office nor uphold the law.

” We will challenge the contempt in court and also appeal against the suspension of the three innocent members.

Today’s victory is temporary, unconstitutional, and illegal. Neither we nor the people will accept it.We have boycotted this election in protest.A re-election will be held”.

The MP alleged that the state government manipulated the election process to secure an artificial majority.

Despite instructions to postpone the election until Wednesday and consult the Deputy Commissioner (DC), officials deliberately cut off communication and did not allow any contact. “Ultimately, victory will be ours”, he declared.
