Karnataka declared naxal-free, CM siddaramaiah announces key security, revamping from 8 to 11 Police Divisions for Bengaluru for better policing

In an effort to provide better policing to the city,which is growing beyond control in terms of migrating population, the city police area has been revamped from 8 Division to 11 Division.

The city police area is presently divided into North, South,Central,East,West,Southeast, Northeast,and Whitefield divisions.

Some of these divisions distributed unevenly with more stations in each stations and more geographical boundaries while other division is smaller than usual .

This had burden the work for the personnel of some divisions .

In order to set it right the four more divisions will revised the area and to deploy more police personnel including four more DCPS to head each division and the subordinate staff of ACPs, Inspectors,PSIs and other staff to manage the law and order and crime investigations effectively .

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also allotted ₹ five crore grants to cyber crime division.This according to Siddaramaiah will help to strengthened the division to tackle more growing cyber crime and narcotics cases .

In an effort to enhance security cover to the Bengaluru under Safe City project has been implemented at a cost of ₹667 crore.

A total of 7,500 cameras have been installed across Bengaluru,which are linked to command centre to be monitored round the clock to maintain law and order .
In addition to this 10 drones and 560 body-worn cameras have been provided for the police personnel for effective beat policing system.

A total of 60 women outposts have been set up across the city to foster a public sense of security among women and ensure prompt police assistance for women and children who are victims of crime.

Four more bomb detection and disposal squads will be established in Bellary,Davanagere,Mysuru,and Bengaluru Central Zones this year.

To ensure the fitness and well-being of police personnel, the government has increased the amount allocated for individual annual health check-ups from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500.

The food allowance for policemen and personnel on special duties has also been raised from ₹ 200 to ₹300. This would help to provide quality food for the personnel on duty .

The Chief Minister also announced to disband anti naxal force that since the state is now Naxal-free.

A special package of Rs 10 crore has been allocated to improve basic facilities in previously Naxal-affected areas.

Two Indian Reserve Battalions will be established at Kudugurki near Nandi Hills and in KGF,with a grant of ₹80 crore provided for the initiative.

Under the ‘Police Gruha-2025’ scheme, residential quarters worth ₹ 300 crore will be constructed this year for police personnel.

Additionally,the ex-gratia amount for the families of home guards and civil defence volunteers who die while on duty or during training has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
