No fund allocation for North Karnataka:Bommai

Hubballi:Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has criticized the state budget, saying that it is limited to the Bengaluru-Mysuru region and has failed to address the regional disparities in North Karnataka.

Speaking to the media in Hubballi on Friday,he said while Rs.5,000 crore has been allocated for the Kalyana Karnataka region, the funds have not been utilized.

The Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) funds are not being spent.Additionally, the revenue collection last year fell short by Rs.10,000 crore, and capital expenditure was also reduced.

Bommai said this year’s budget lacks bold measures to improve the state’s financial situation, and the government’s only achievement seems to be taking on more debt.

He accused the budget of pushing Karnataka further into a debt trap and worsening the state’s financial crisis, calling it an anti-people and anti-development budget.

The MP slammed the budget for failing to introduce any schemes to address the regional imbalance in North Karnataka.

While Rs.5,000 crore was allocated for the Kalyana Karnataka region last year and the same amount has been allocated this year, the funds remain unspent.

Moreover, the Kittur Karnataka region has received no allocation, reinforcing his claim that the budget is focused solely on the Bengaluru-Mysuru region.
