Fake Lokayukta officer arrested by Gauribidanur Police for blackmailing Chikkaballapur city municipal council official demanding money

The Gauribidanur police on Monday arrested a 21-year-old PU drop out who posing as Lokayukta officer blackmailed a Chikkaballapur City Municipal Council official to conduct raid on him and demanded money .

Based on the complaint filed on May 2024,the police track down the accused identified as Channakeshava Reddy from Satya Sai district of AP,after 10 months and arrested him.

The police are now on the lookout for his associate Dhanush Reddy,who was helping the accused and presently on the run.

Senior officer said the accused is a habitual offender involved in similar offences in Mangaluru last year.

The accused would call the government official through whatsapp call threatened them with a corruption case pending against them and informed that he is going to raid the office and residence.

The accused later demand money in return of dropping the charges and closing the case.

The police are now probing further to ascertain his criminal background,the police said.
