The Whitefield Division Cyber Crime Police are on the lookout for a person who posing as representatives of Swiggy company (online food ordering and delivery company) seeking students data from 17 universities to cheat them on the pretext of offering job .
Based on the complaint by N Harshith,manager of Swiggy company,the police have registered an FIR against the accused identified as Vikram Kumar Singh, charging him under various section of IT Act and also under section 318 (4) (cheating),319 ( impersonation ) of BNS on Tuesday for further investigations.
The accused according to the complainant,posing as representative of Swiggy,wrote to 17 universities including Christ,Loyola,Dayananda Sagar and new horizon universities,offering job for the students .
The mail also mentioned to share the students database whoever interested to work in the company and also form a whatsapp groups .
The cheating came to light when Christ university called the swiggy company to cross check the claim and found that there was no such scheme.
The police suspect that the accused tried to cheat the colleges misusing the Swiggy name to dupe students and take money on the pretext of offering jobs.
The complainant also shared the contact number of Vikram Kumar Singh which he had shared with the management of the universities to create a whatsapp group and make him admin.
The police are on the lookout for the accused who is sitting from outside the state and operating.The police have also warned people to cross check the information they receive before sharing confidential data .
